Seen through the lens of marketers, social TV is merely another facet of big data. Platforms like Twitter and Facebook channel millions and millions of reactions to TV and video content. Social TV analytics vendors take all this chatter, they filter it to screen out the junk, they categorize keywords and sentiment, and spit out numbers-backed insights.

When it comes to social media strategy, brands like Oreo can create 100 brilliant Facebook posts 100 days in a row (to celebrate its 100th birthday, of course), while other advertisers completely flounder.
So Facebook decided to call out the brands that are doing the best work on the medium — mostly using unpaid advertising — by announcing the winners of its second annual Facebook Studio awards.
An elite group of advertising experts from all the top agencies made up the jury that analyzed which brands deserve the prize, which is actually a simple wooden box with the letter “f” carved on it.

While LinkedIn saw an increase, Facebook participation among small businesses polled decreased from 44 percent to 41 percent over the past year.
The majority (66 percent) of small businesses plan to invest as much or more in digital marketing, such as Websites, social media and online advertisements, as they did last year, according to the 2013 AT&T Small Business Technology Poll, which surveyed 1,000 small businesses nationwide. With the PC officially in decline, mobile is clearly now the platform of choice for most digital services, including commerce, music, entertainment, banking, and communication.
